8 year project to replicate experiments from high impact publications in the field of cancer biology, from 2020 through 2012. When preparing to replicate 193 experiments from 53 papers, challenges arose:
Experiments with open data
Experiments requiring asking for key reagents
Experiments requiring key reagent original authors would share
Percentage of protocols described completely
Experiments where original authors were not helpful
Experiments where original authors were very helpful
Using work conducted by this project, SciScore for replication papers scored significantly higher than the original papers, once the additional information was provided by the authors to begin replication efforts.
